Cron Job Runner can run any other tasks that need to be completed on a regular
basis for the smooth work of your online store. There are plenty of processes
you can manage through the extension. Among the tasks Cron Job Runner can help
you to schedule and monitor are the temporary files cleaning, sending newsletters,
customer notifications, currency settings, and price recalculations, updating sitemap
and many more actions. You can plan and change these actions as often as you need
them. There are other advanced settings, including such options as the maximum job
runtime and the maximum number of success schedules, the Error Log and Job Output
Important note: Cron Job Runner Extension functionality doesn’t include creating new cron jobs. All the cron jobs the extension works with are the existing ones.
Cron Job Runner gives you flexibility in adding and managing cron tasks from the admin panel just in a few clicks without undue effort. Cron Scheduler manages the cron jobs you use in your work. General settings are located at Stores > Settings > Configuration > Neklo tab > Cron Job Runner > General Settings. Here you can set the longest period of time for the cron job to be executed, in minutes. This number can differ depending on your store. If the cron execution exceeds the limit you have set, the cron job stops.
Cron jobs are performed once in a certain period of time, and you can specify that period with a special command that consists of symbols. Every combination of these symbols means a time period like 1 minute, 15 minutes, and so on. If you have a vision of how your cron jobs should work, you can apply your own values to the heartbeat schedule, so your cron jobs will obey your directions.
Important note: before putting anything in the heartbeat schedule field, consider turning to any cron command table to avoid mistakes and typos.
Track cron job errors After the extension is enabled, you or your employees can get immediate emails every time there is something wrong with the cron jobs: they are failing to be completed, they don’t start on time, etcetera.
Choose the person who will receive the notifications in the Error Email Recipient field. You can enter the email of yours or any other admin user whose task is to handle smooth cron jobs configuration. The Error Email Sender indicates who will be displayed as an email sender.
Important note: you can choose the email template for the letters from Cron Job Runner, but the extension does not have the functionality to add new templates. To add a new email template in Magento 2, head to Marketing > Communications > Email Templates.
You don’t have to keep in mind every change to the cron schedule. There is a Grid where all of your already scheduled cron jobs are stored and displayed with key details to its work. The Grid is located at System > Cron Management > Scheduled Jobs, and it displays cron jobs listed with their periods, current statuses and actions. It is a clearly arranged timeline of the cron jobs with all additional information being scheduled and performed.
If there is a need to add or change some information regarding the schedule of any particular cron job manually, you can find the edit button in the Actions column. You will be then redirected to the page where you can apply changes to all possible time marks like creation and execution and the cron job’s status.
Every day, cron jobs complete tens and hundreds of tasks that are vital to your store productive cycle. The Cron Job Runner gathers all cron jobs in a single grid for your viewing convenience. The full list of cron jobs is located at System > Cron Management > Job List. It shows the schedule for each task and if the cron job is on. The actions list allows you to enable, disable, run and schedule jobs. To perform any of the actions, just mark it with a tick and choose the action.
You can edit your cron jobs that are listed in Job List at System > Job List. Set a custom heartbeat schedule, status and other details you require for this specific cron job.
Important note: Cron Job Runner doesn’t create any cron jobs, the extension solely manages the cron jobs that already exist in your store.
There is a tool that you can use whenever you need a vivid picture of all your cron jobs being executed right now. The Cron Jobs Timeline can be found at System > Cron Management > Job Timeline. It consists of the timeline itself, where the current jobs are marked, their list on the left and the actions above the timeline. If there are too many cron jobs being in work at the same time, you can view the filters and apply them.
To install Cron Job Runner extension for Magento 2, you need to have FTP/SSH access details.
