On May 31 – April 1, 2016 the leading eCommerce conference for Magento took place in Prague for the first time, brought there by NEKLO. Let’s now recap the event and remember how it was.
Finally, after almost a year of preparations and hard work, we’re proud to say that Meet Magento CZ 2016 ended up a success. It’s been a long time since we came up with the idea to organize a Meet Magento event of our own till today, when the Conference is a history already, and we would like to thank all the attendees, Speakers and each and every of you who joined us for your interest and engagement. It was you who made it happen. Hope you had a good time with us and there’s a bunch of memories you took home. And our special thanks to Meet Magento Association for giving us such an opportunity and our NEKLO team and partners worldwide for supporting us along the way. That was a valuable experience and we appreciate much your being with us.
So, here is what Meet Magento CZ was all about:
- 3 conference days
- 10+ hours of talks
- 5 hours of master classes
- 20 speakers
- 150+ participants from 12+ countries
- .. and hundreds of tweets and selfies taken
Day 0: Hello, Prague
March 30 was the Day 0 of Meet Magento CZ. There were a lot of guests from abroad at our conference, so we organized a special walking tour for them along the Prague’s most famous sites to let them enjoy the breathtaking views of this magnificent city, rich with culture and history, break the ice and catch the spirit of networking. And though the Czech capital welcomed us with a rainy weather, still we made a day of it, accompanied by an English-speaking guide.
Day 1: Meet Magento CZ and the after party fun
On March 31, the main conference day, a modern and comfortable Orea Hotel Pyramida opened its doors to greet the conference participants and speakers. Situated in the very heart of Prague, a few minutes away from the city center, this place provided the attendees with the opportunity to easily get there no matter where they stayed. The first attendees started to arrive there at about 8:30 AM and after the registration and welcome coffee the conference began.
Traditionally, there was a presenter who hosted the event and announced the speakers. At the first Meet Magento CZ this role was given to amazing Eva Čerešňáková. Eva did everything perfectly and became a true jewel of the conference.
The first to speak in front of the audience with his keynote was Igor Sundukovskiy, a CFO of NEKLO. Then the stage was given to Thomas Fleck from Meet Magento Association to introduce Meet Magento to the participants.
One of the most awaited talks of the conference in Prague was that by Ben Marks, devoted to Magento 2. And when Ben was already in front of the audience, suddenly noise appeared that distracted the participants greatly from the presentation with its sound. As we found out the next moment, that was because of the construction works held outside the building. Luckily, we managed to settle everything up and stop it, so that Ben could continue without being interrupted. Thus, everyone present learned at first hand what the power of Meet Magento really is, able to unite people to overcome any obstacles.
There were a lot of talks that day and after the lunch time we split in two sections. All the Speakers got great feedback and the participants were especially enthusiastic about the speeches of Guido Jansen and Sergey Lysak, who rocked with their awesome tricks while speaking on the persuasive eCommerce and the magic recipes for making benefits with multi-channel customer support.
During the breaks, the attendees and Speakers shared their impressions both with each other and in social networks and had fun taking photos at the photo booth in the relax zone. Here are some of them:

We also spared a minute and took some snaps.

After the presentation part ended, Eva again came at the stage with her closing speech to thank everyone taking part and invite them to the after party, which we kept a secret till the very last moment. There was a huge party at the Velká klášterní restaurace that evening, with delicious starters, unlimited beer and an indie pop cover band playing live music. It all went terrific and the participants moved on to the after after party to celebrate in groups of their own.
Day 2: Workshops
As promised, the second conference day was given to workshops, provided by Microsoft, Meet Magento CZ Gold Sponsor. All the three master classes took place in the Corporation’s office, where the participants learned how to run Magento on Azure to get more flexibility for their business.
The final master class was held by Andrew Klochkov, our Lead of system administrator team, and was devoted to the using of elastic stack products for Magento 1/2 monitoring inside Azure cloud.
Andrew already took part in a number of Meet Magento conferences and this time again he shared his knowledge and experience with those wishing to get to a new level with their Magento. And, judging by how glad the participants looked, they enjoyed the workshops much.
The first Meet Magento CZ went smooth and we managed to realize all that we had planned for it. That was a memorable experience for us and we would like to once more thank all the guests, Speakers and Sponsors for their trust and great support. We made it together! Hope this will become a tradition for us to meet yearly and we’ll see you soon again at the next Meet Magento in the Czech Republic.
